Bandages

Practices and clinics must provide a wide range of medical care following accidents at work, sports injuries, home and leisure accidents: In addition to a very diverse range of skin injuries requiring appropriate treatment and aftercare, many of these accidents affect the musculoskeletal system.

Dressing of wounds is a priority in the treatment of injured joints, discs, tendons and muscles. This ranges from gauze, ointment and padded dressings to support and compression dressings as well as mechanical immobilisation by fixation of splints. The dressing technique and material are determined by the precise indication.

The second major area in which bandages are used is compression and decongestive therapy for treating vascular disease. This is part of medical and nursing routine. There are three main types of compression bandage: short-stretch, medium-stretch and long-stretch elastic bandages. Compression works in the following way: Short-stretch elastic (low-elasticity) bandages provide high working pressures and low resting pressures. Materials with higher elasticity have higher resting pressures and lower working pressures.

Finding the right compression bandage is thus always dependent on whether the wearer is mobile or immobilised and what level of compression is required or permitted for the specific disease. MASTER•AID® provides an extensive range of high-quality bandages to suit every purpose. They are available in small packs to reflect actual demand.
