Care

As the largest organ in the human body, the skin performs important functions. For example, it protects the body from dehydration and environmental damage, as well as transmitting impulses to the nervous system. A healthy skin is also of central importance for general wellbeing.

Medical skincare is a major component in caring for injured, and particularly older skin, for example in people with diabetes. It is also used when therapeutic measures increase moisture loss from the skin. It is aimed at supporting the healing of acute damage to the skin or to prevent it from occurring. However, young and healthy skin should also receive regular preventive care to ensure it maintains its protective barrier function over the long term.
