Eye dressings and eye compresses have a dual action, protecting and anchoring the eye during treatment and post-operative care of peri-ocular injuries. Draping the wound reduces infections, whilst the dressings help to immobilise the eye. This restricts eye movement and minimises the chance of friction-induced irritations or injuries.
As well as conventional dressing materials for simple eye dressings, pressure dressings or ointment dressings, the MASTER•AID® range also includes eye shields with closed or perforated plastic discs. These specialist dressings are used when the eye does not just need to be protected from ingress of foreign bodies and pathogen but also from exposure to pressure. The closed disc format also stops the eye from drying out if the eye cannot close or can only close partially.
